JENNY BURMAN
Bio
Jenny Burman is an Associate Professor of Communications in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. She teaches and writes in the areas of diaspora studies, transnational communication and cultural studies, critiques of multiculturalism, and urban culture and social difference in Canada. She is the author of the book Transnational Yearnings: Tourism, Migration, and the Diasporic City (UBC Press, 2010), which uses the case of links joining Toronto and Jamaica to discuss the intersection of multiple transnational circulations. Her work has also appeared in the journals Space and Culture, Cultural Studies, Journal of International Communication, and Topia.
Jenny Burman est professeure associée en communication dans le département d’Histoire de l’Art et d'Études de Communication, à l’Université McGill. Son enseignement et sa recherche portent sur l'étude des diasporas, la communication transnationale et les cultural studies, la critique du multiculturalisme, ainsi que les rapports entre culture urbaine et différences sociales au Canada. Elle a publié Transnational Yearnings : Tourism, Migration, and the Diasporic City (UBC Press, 2010) : à partir des liens entre Toronto et la Jamaïque, ce livre analyse les croisements entre des circulations transnationales multiples. Elle a également publié des articles dans Space and Culture, Cultural Studies, Journal of International Communication et Topia.
